Thread Lift

WHAT IS A THREAD LIFT?

Problems with skin laxity, like jowls or drooping skin, used to be a problem that could only be addressed with invasive surgery. Now, a new innovative technique called a thread lift is available for patients looking to rejuvenate their appearance. A thread lift is a quick in-office procedure where absorbable sutures are used to lift the skin of your face, allowing your skin to look firmer and younger without an excessive recovery period. Our team at Beauty Medica in Houston, TX is proud to offer both Silhouette InstaLift and polydioxanone (PDO) sutures to perform the nonsurgical thread lift. If you’re bothered by the appearance of loose or drooping skin on your face but are not ready for invasive surgery, call our team at our office in Houston, TX to inquire about a consultation for a thread lift.

HOW IS A THREAD LIFT PERFORMED?

Candidates for a thread lift will have mild to moderate signs of aging, like lines, wrinkles, and sagging areas in the middle or lower face. The thread lift procedure itself is performed in one of our private treatment rooms at Beauty Medica. Before we begin, we will use local anesthesia to numb your face to ensure you remain comfortable during the procedure, and then our team will mark the entrance and exit points for the thread on your facial tissue. Then, a fine needle is used to insert the thread and the skin is carefully tightened in the desired direction. The procedure typically takes about an hour, after which you will be released to recover at home. You should see an immediate difference after the procedure, though there may be some swelling and bruising for several days. With proper skin care, results can last for several years.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THIS PROCEDURE?

Patients here at Beauty Medica that receive brow lifts claim that this procedure yields many benefits, including:

  • Restoration of peripheral and unobstructed vision
  • Maintaining a tight and youthful appearance around the eye and brow areas
  • Reduction of forehead and worry lines
  • Long-lasting benefits from treatment

THREAD LIFT FAQ

Is a thread lift safe?

Yes, it is. In 2015, the Silhouette Instalift was approved by the FDA as safe and effective. It is currently the only absorbable suture for thread lifts with FDA approval for cosmetic procedures.

Is getting a thread lift painful?

No, it isn’t. Most patients don’t feel any discomfort at all during a thread lift procedure. Before we begin, we will numb the treatment area with a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable.

How long does it take to get a thread lift?

Not long at all. Most procedures are completed within an hour.

How quickly do you see results from a thread lift?

Most patients will see results almost immediately. However, some people can experience mild swelling that typically goes away after a few days — then the full results are usually seen. Over time, with the production of new collagen and elastin stimulated by the PDO threads, most will see continued improvement in the appearance of their skin.

How long will my thread lift results last?

Many patients can expect their results to last for years with proper skin care and a healthy lifestyle.
